Our First Evening en Espana!

As we walked several city blocks to a restaurant this evening, we heard cars honking and honking their horns ahead of us.  When we got closer, we realized there was a protest going on.  We were surprised to see loads of people, many older, completely blocking the traffic on a main city street. They were protesters, obviously upset with banking in Spain.
The backup of cars was quite long and the drivers were NOT amused!
We had a lovely dinner in a little restaurant about 8 blocks from our hotel. The dessert was delicious! Homemade sorbet with fresh fruit. Everyone had a great time and we are so happy to be here.
On our leisurely walk back to our hotel, Nicole Perry Gore and I happened upon this lovely Spanish woman who was playing her violin on the sidewalk.
She asked us, in Spanish, where we were from. When we told her "de los estados unidos", she burst out the song, "Oh Susana" for us. Her heart was kind and her face was happy as she played for us. She was so grateful when we put a euro in her violin case! Extra special for me, as I have a brand new grand niece named Susana back in Marshfield! This woman's spirit and attitude were much more light-hearted than those we saw protesting on our way to dinner. What a nice way to end our first evening in the Capitol of Spain!
Buenos noches! Good night!
