A School Visit

We had a wonderful school visit in Seville. We visited a PreK to Grade 12 school. We were welcomed by all we met, from teachers to principal, to secretaries, to students.

The school's name is Colegio Almimar. It is a wonderful school that has earned awards at both the primary and upper levels for impressive academia.

We met in a large room with a teacher who spoke English quite well. She talked with us about their curriculum and how important it is for the staff and parents for the children to grow socially and emotionally as well as academically.

I visited a second grade class where it was "English Day", the students were learning in English. They are taught 50% of the time in English and 50% of the time in Spanish.

In Science they had been learning about plants and trees. They were identifying the parts of a tree in English, and then came forward to sing a song, in English, about the parts of a tree.

The school asked us to please only take pictures of students from the back, as some have "do not photo" status.

Every student wore a uniform. The uniforms differed, depending on the grade of the student.

Mrs. Jackson and I pretended to have bus duty at the curb in front of the school

Wouldn't our Marshfield students love this?!

Our entire group was very touched by our visit.

We believe in so much of what the philosophy is at this school!

Even though there was a language barrier, as each principal speaks only a small amount of the other's language, we understood that children are our future, they all learn and grow in our schools, and they always come first!

  3. Loved the pictures from your school trip! I think our students would love a pool in the school...but does that mean the teachers are lifeguards? Yikes! Have fun!
