One Evening in Madrid


One evening in Madrid we walked to the San Miguel Market. It was several blocks from our hotel, but well worth the long walk. It is housed in a 19th century building with wrought iron columns.

It was an inside marketplace, open on a Friday night and bustling with people shopping and at tables eating some of the wonderful delicacies that are offered for sale right there.

I have no idea what this is!
Paella, which is a popular rice dish here.
Yes, these are pig's legs... Very popular here. I like ham, but I'm not crazy about seeing the real legs, though! In Spanish, ham is called jamon. It's pronounced ha-moan.
 There were so many desserts... Yogurt and fruit...
Yummy looking pastries...
Amazing cakes...
And even Ninja Turtle candies!
We had a lot of fun at the marketplace. It's so fun to see new places and try new things!
